Appointments: Bermans; Turner Parkinson; Growth Hub & more

LAW firm Bermans has appointed three new staff to its employment team.

Sophie Fulwell has joined from Ellis Whittam in Chester and will work with partners Nicky Benson and Adrian Fryer in the Liverpool office.  

Phillip Hodges, who previously worked at Hill Dickinson, has joined as a consultant and Richard Morton joins from Maclay, Murray & Spens in Glasgow to develop the employment team in Bermans’ Manchester office.

Nicky Benson, who heads Bermans’ employment department, said: “Our department has seen increased volumes of work from existing clients and a substantial number of new client wins particularly in the social housing and SME sectors.

“We are delighted to welcome the new additions to our team. All are vastly experienced and bring considerable expertise to the employment team, which is a significant practice growth area for the firm.”

LAW firm Turner Parkinson has strengthened its Litigation Team with the appointment of solicitor Catherine Wasilewski. 

Having qualified in 2011, Miss Wasilewski previously worked for Eversheds in Leeds and has acted for financial institutions, businesses and other entities on a wide range of financial litigation disputes, including professional negligence, unsecured and secured debt recovery and guarantee enforcement claims, payment processing and pensions litigation.

Ian Fitzpatrick, head of litigation at the Manchester firm said: “Catherine’s appointment further develops and strengthens our Litigation department and she will be a great asset to the team.  Her experience in the financial sector adds to a strong track record within that market.  We continue to grow our team and attract new talent as both the team and firm develop year on year.”

THE Business Growth Hub has appointed former Nat West Capital investment executive, Philip Hargreaves to head its Access to Finance (A2F) service which offers advice and support to businesses that need to raise finance.

Hargreaves has spent more than 35 years working in the commercial and corporate banking sector, including 27 years with NatWest. 

More recently he has supported the development of The North West Fund and previously worked for FW Capital, working with SMEs who were seeking funding opportunities in the North West.

As Access to Finance manager he will be heading a 20-strong team of advisers.

SECURITY provider The Shield Group has appointed Paul King as regional director.

Based at the company’s Manchester office, Mr King has more than 25 years ‘ experience in the sector.  He
has been a member of the Manchester City Crime Prevention Panel for eight years,  and is a former chairman.
 
Mr King said: “The opportunity to join The Shield Group gives me great pleasure and I happily look forward to embarking on this new chapter in my career.
