Legal news: Mills & Reeves targets technology & more

NATIONAL firm Mills & Reeve has launched a technology team in Manchester to capitalise on the opportunities in the sector in the North West.
The team, which will offer a range of innovative legal solutions to help the region’s growing technology companies, is headed up by Paul Knight who has moved to the region from the firm’s Cambridge office to lead its strategic drive into the sector.
Knight said: “This is a very exciting time to be involved in the technology sector in Manchester. The region’s universities are a hotbed of entrepreneurship and the local business incubators are supporting some really ambitious fledgling companies. We are extremely keen to use our expertise to help them grow.

PATIENT Claim Line, a consumer brand of North West medical negligence and serious injury law firm Fletchers Solicitors, has become the sponsor of hit ITV daytime courtroom show Judge Rinder.
The six-figure sponsorship deal will run until June.
The Judge Rinder show, which averages over one million viewers per episode, stars British barrister Rob Rinder who adjudicates over a variety of real, small-claim cases in the studio courtroom.
It is the first time the law firm has sponsored a TV show and the sponsorship supports a wider marketing and PR campaign.
Alex Kenny, head of marketing at Patient Claim Line and Fletchers Solicitors, said: “We’ve wanted to work with ITV for a long time because of its highly regarded reputation and the fact it is a proven platform to build brands on. We have been waiting for the right opportunity to partner with a show, and we identified Judge Rinder as the perfect fit.
“The show’s problem solving, legal angle complements our brand, while at the same time pulls in significant viewing figures to expose our offering to potential clients.”

QASIM Mohammed, a real estate associate at TLT, has advised REG Holdings on the property aspects of the sale of its 10MW Denzell Downs wind farm project.
The wind farm was sold to BlackRock Renewable Income UK, a fund managed by BlackRock for a total enterprise value of £24.4m.
Mohammed, who joined TLT last summer, said: “This deal provides our client with the new capital to reinvest in their pipeline of renewable energy projects, helping to fulfil its commitment to renewable energy.”
