News in brief: Sports and play specialist takes on four trainees

CHESHIRE-based sports and play surfacing company, Soft Surfaces, has taken on four new apprentices to join its marketing team.
The Wilsmlow company says the recruitments are thanks to its overall success and continued growth in 2014.
Two of the four recruits now have full time positions at the company, while the other two continue with working towards their qualification in various roles which include content writing, video production, social media management and general SEO.
James Dooley, Director of Soft Surfaces, says, “Last year set new records for our overall turnover and secured projects.
!The company has seen an increase in enquiries and secured projects for various products and services such as playground surface installation, outdoor paving, sports facility construction and maintenance for all of these surface types.”
“The company has recently been involved in repairing existing play areas in parks, especially as wet-pour safety surfacing can shrink from the edges and cause trip hazards. Soft Surfaces us a specialist in this area and has completed contamination tests at Westleigh High School and Golborne High School in the Wigan area.

A PRESTON-based solicitor has been recognised for his expertise in insolvency matters after passing a key exam.
James Robbins, who is a solicitor at Harrison Drury, has gained insolvency practitioner status after passing the rigorous Joint Insolvency Examination Board (JIEB) exams first time round.
Drury is one of only 52 people who passed the insolvency exams first time round, and is now amongst only a small number of people in Lancashire and Cumbria to be dual-qualified as a solicitor and insolvency practitioner.
