Sofaworks faces legal threat

NORTH West furniture retailer Sofaworks is facing possible legal action from competitor DFS in an intellectual property dispute.
The Wigan company, which recently sealed a £5m funding deal , was called CSL until 2013. It is the use of “sofaworks” that has sparked the complaint from the listed Yorkshire business.
A spokesperson for Doncaster-based DFS told TheBusinessDesk.com: “We can confirm that The Sofa Workshop has a trade mark dispute with Sofaworks.
“As it is currently in the hands of the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court DFS will not be commenting until a judgement is made.”
Chief executive of DFS Ian Filby and Sofaworks owner Jason Tyldesley attended court on Thursday, according to Retail Week. A judgement is scheduled to be made on June 29.
Sofaworks said it had been advised not to comment by its legal team.
