Appointments: Chafes Solicitors; Capital Property & more

WILMSLOW legal practice Chafes has boosted its family department with the appointment of solicitor Kirsten Grotte.

Having previously worked at Slater & Gordon in Manchester, she joins Chafes from Susan Howarth & Co and advises on divorce, financial matters and issues relating to children.

Jon Roberts, managing partner of Chafes Solicitors, said: “Kirsten is an experienced solicitor who came highly recommended and will play a key role in the expansion of our personal legal services.

GRAHAM Benson, chief information officer at Rentalcars.com, has ben appointed chairman of Manchester Digital, the independent trade association for the North West’s digital sector.

Benson has vast experience in eCommerce and IT and has worked for Thomas Cook, Avis,  and play.com.

He said: “Manchester is the new digital capital of the UK, and Manchester Digital has played its part in attaining this status; our challenge now is to adapt, change and grow to ensure that we continue to play an active and supportive role in maintaining Manchester’s hard-earned digital status and it is a challenge that I will relish.”

MANCHESTER-based Capital Properties has appointed experienced sector professional Martyn Chase to its board as a non-executive director.

Previously chairman of Donaldsons, Chase is currently orking at Stanhope to identify new retail and residential development projects. He is also active in a number of professional bodies; the Association of Town and City Management as founder director, the Department of Communities and Local Government on Olympic legacy, and Business in the Community.

JOHN King has left Asons Solicitors to join another Bolton-based company, Best Practice Group, as marketing manager.

DEESIDE-based price comparison specialist Moneysupermarket.com has appointed Robin Freestone as a non-executive director from August 1.

He will become a member of the audit, risk, renumeration and nomination committees of the board.

Freestone has been chief financial officer of Pearson plc since 2006 and was deputy chief financial officer prior to that.

Chairman Bruce Carnegie-Brown said: “We are delighted that Robin has agreed to join the board. With his experience of leading global and digital businesses, he will be a valuable addition to the Board.”
