Insta-famous mum to show Manchester her way of parenting
One of the UK’s most popular parenting bloggers, Mother Pukka, is coming to OGS Works at Manchester’s Old Granada Studios next week for a funny, filthy, no-holds-barred account of the trials and tribulations of parenting.
Mother Pukka, who is one of a growing number of insta-mums choosing to take an honest and frank approach to parenting, will be joining the mother-and-baby group Mamas Collective, at Old Granada Studios to discuss parenting in her own inimitable style on the 12th August 2016.
Anna Whitehead aka ‘Mother Pukka’ will be chatting about what it’s like to juggle working for yourself and motherhood, the emergence of the ‘Instamum’, and the work she’s doing to promote flexible working for parents.
Anna, a journalist who has an impressive 39k following on Instagram, previously worked at Time Out Amsterdam, SuperTrash and Tommy Hilfiger before moving home to London where she now works at Shortlist Media, as well as running her Mother Pukka blog.
The Insta-famous mum is looking forward to spending the afternoon with like-minded parents. She said: “I love that there’s stuff like this happening outside of London. I love Manchester, I love getting out of London and I can’t wait to meet everyone for bosomy hugs and team eye twitchin’.”
Mamas Collective is a group of savvy super-cool mums who get together on a monthly basis to talk about anything other than their baby’s bowel movements, and welcome a host of guest speakers at their popular meet-ups.
The event, which is being held in the heart of Manchester city centre at Old Granada Studios, which is a space for arts, culture and workshops, has been set up by Mamas Collective Founder Molly Whitehead-Jones. The 32-year-old set the company up in November 2015 after having her one-year-old son Elliot and realising that “traditional” parenting groups weren’t for her.
Molly, who lives in Prestwich, said: “After having my baby I soon found myself desperate to find like-minded mums I could talk to about stuff other than nap patterns and Jumperoos.
“The idea behind Mamas Collective is that we run meet-ups, workshops and events for mamas who obviously love their kids but don’t, and won’t, let motherhood hold them back and I’m thrilled that Mother Pukka is supporting us in spreading that message to mums in the North West.”
