Revenue soars to £2.6m for firm of architects

MANCHESTER-based architecture firm Fletcher Rae is reporting 60% growth in the financial year to April, with revenue climbing £2.6m from £1.6m in the previous 12 months.
The increase in workload is the result of the organisation proactively pursuing opportunities within the now buoyant construction market, combined with the scope of ongoing projects expanding.
Joint managing director Andrew Rae, said: “The scale and complexities of projects is increasing, bringing in new and larger commissions for the firm.
“For example the ink has only just dried on the paper, for two residential schemes in Salford and Liverpool worth in the region of £140m.
“In addition, large projects that take time to go live are coming to fruition; for example, an energy contract in Gloucester, worth £200m, has just gone live after five years of planning. This significant development is one of many for the business in this highly specialised sector.”
Meanwhile, staff numbers at Fletcher Rae have doubled, taking the firm to more than 30 employees and putting the organisation in the top 20 biggest architectural companies in North West.
Joint Managing Director, Bob Fletcher, said: “Management structure has been flattened, to facilitate greater opportunities within the workplace, and allow both design and technical employees to be promoted at the same rate.
“This is a different set-up to most other architectural agencies who work with a traditional associate structure that recognises time at the company, rather than talent.”
The increase in personnel has prompted a full restructure and revamp of Fletcher Rae’s design studio, just off Deansgate. The updates to furniture, decor and technology embrace a more modern, ergonomic workplace for the team.
In addition, Fletcher Rae’s website has been redesigned to reflect the creative and technical expertise demonstrated across the company’s diverse portfolio.
