Media Mix: Design fest gets an app; Refinery fashions a new campaign for Gardman

LIVERPOOL computer game designer Citrus Suite has developed an iPhone application for the Liverpool Design Festival.

Organisers of the 10-day event, from November 18-27, hope to attract 8,000 people to exhibitions, fashion shows, films, and seminars.

Festival project manager Elaine Caldwell said: “The app adds exciting dimensions to our campaign, and will allow a large section of our audience to keep up to speed with the festival programme by simply tapping a screen. It feeds news directly to our visitors’ hands, helping them select favourite events and plan their own schedule.”

Citrus Suite said the app reads and compares data from websites and automatically updates content. “Citrus Suite has created a bespoke app that works across-platforms which they believe capable of making a big impact,” said the company.

MANCHESTER marketing agency Refinery is handling a new campaign for Lincolnshire garden supplies group Gardman.

The campaign by the firm, which supplies garden centres and the large DIY and supermarket chains, is the result of a strategic review and brand overhaul carried out with Refinery.

It has now re-launched six of its brands, introduced one new brand across two product categories and re-vamped its point-of-sale material, packaging, advertising, promotions and web presence.

Marketing director Jane Lawler said: “As market leaders in a number of our categories, it’s important that we continue to lead the field in terms of innovation and marketing; and that’s exactly what we feel we’ve achieved with our new product launches and marketing campaign, which results from months of extensive research carried out in partnership with Refinery.”
