Brian Collie joins Expansys

THE former chairman of lastminute.com Brian Collie has joined online retailier Expansys as a non-executive director.

Manchester-based Expansys, which specialises in selling handheld devices like phones and GPS units, is controlled by Dragons’ Den star Peter Jones.

In a statement the firm said it will benefit from Mr Collie’s retail experience.

From 1997 to 2005 he was the group retail director for BAA, responsible for all commercial activity across 20 airports.

He was appointed to the board of lastminute.com prior to its stock market listing in 2000 and later became chairman. He is currently the chairman of hotel group Jurys Inns and a non-exec at designer outlet group McArthurGlen.

Bob Wigley, Expansys’ chairman, said: “With an extensive career in international retail, both physical and online, Brian Collie has a great deal to offer Expansys as we seek to accelerate our growth as a global retailer of consumer electronics.”
