Lettings latest: JD expands HQ space, King Sturge advises Segro on new deal

JD Sports Fashion is increasing the amount of space it is taking at its Balmoral House headquarters at Castlebrook Business Park in Bury.

The retailer, which last month ammounced a 64% increase in pre-tax profits for the six months to July 31 to £16.6m and an 18.5% uplift in sales to £384m, is occupying another 9,785 sq ft of space at Castlebrook Business Park taking its total to around 55,000 sq ft.

JD Sports now occupies around 45% of Balmoral House, but a further 11,955 sq ft remains unlet. It has agreed a five-year deal at a headline rent of £12.75 per sq ft.

Giles Selby, estates controller of JD Sports Fashion, said: “We are pleased to have been able to secure additional space at Castlebrook Business Park. It was important that we found suitable office space which complimented our existing head office function. Balmoral House ideally fulfils this requirement.”

Landlord Aviva was advised on the deal by the Manchester office of property consultancy Colliers.

Castlebrook is close to Bury town centre and around a mile away from Junction 3 of the M66.
