Addleshaw Goddard axes 10% of partnership

LAW firm Addleshaw Goddard, which has a major office in Manchester, said today it was axing 19 partners – more than 10% of its total partnership.
It said the move was related to the economic downturn and to changing clients’ needs.
Addleshaws did not reveal where, or across which departments, the cuts would be made. It confirmed though that at all its offices, at Barbirolli Square in Manchester, Leeds and London would be affected.
Managing partner Mark Jones said: “This was a very difficult decision, but in common with many other businesses, we believe it is a necessary response to the economic slowdown and changing requirements of some clients.
“Each of the partners affected will be receiving our maximum support. Our business is in a strong position, and well positioned in its markets. By acting now, we believe we’ll be appropriately resourced to meet our future ambitions and the ongoing needs of our clients.”
