Appointments: Space Group has Smiles, Giles adds two to broker team

THE SALFORD office of architecture firm Space Group has recruited Paul Smiles as associate director.

Mr Smiles, 47, from Rainhill, Liverpool, joins from Aedas Architects and will develop the company’s national reputation in education and healthcare and  creating sustainable communities.

Space Group chief executive Rob Charlton said: “Paul’s recruitment signatures a milestone for our Salford office. Our expansion into the North West means that he is joining us at a time when we are growing our national and international reputation.

“His expertise, particularly in the healthcare and education sectors, will strengthen our ethos of delivering sustainable building design, and follow through in all aspects of our work throughout the North West property scene.”

GILES Insurance Brokers has appointed Liam Pomfret and Julien Yates as senior development executives in Manchester.

Mr Pomfret joins from HSBC’s corporate broking team in London where he worked for two years. Before that he worked at Marsh and  Royal & Sun Alliance.

Mr Yates, who has also worked at Marsh, brings with him 20 years commercial insurance experience, with a specialist focus on professional indemnity and the credit, motor trade and education sector.

Neil Reid, corporate director at Giles’ Manchester office, said: “We have had a presence in Manchester for 18 months now and have experienced a rapid period of growth in terms of our regional client base.

“Both Liam and Julien have the knowledge and experience to really drive forward sales and grow our reputation in Manchester and beyond, something which will be a huge focus for the entire team in the coming months.”
