New £4m centre for Hoylake Cottage

HOYLAKE COTTAGE, the Wirral-based charitable trust, has opened a new £4m care home.
The 60-bed facility replaces the 40-bed ward-style nursing unit in the trust’s original Hoylake Cottage Building, which was more than 100 years old.
The trust and its supporters raised £1m and the extra funding was provided by the Royal Bank of Scotland’s healthcare team in Liverpool.
The trust was established in 1984 to provide specialised nursing to old people, particularly those who require 24 hour nursing and respite care.
In addition to the new care home, the 1.6-acre site contains two other care facilities; Sandhills Day Hospital, a 20-place facility for people with dementia and the Cottage Care centre.
Chairman of Hoylake Cottage, Michael Taylor, said: “This new care home is an important development for the trust and is a key part of our strategy to provide high quality care for older people across the Wirral.
“The facility has been purpose built and that will make a big difference in the level of care that we can offer our residents. I would like to thank everyone who has supported us financially through their fundraising efforts.”
