Software developer put into administration

A company that billed itself as the leading technology expert in the mobile phone industry has gone into administration.

EMCC Software is now in the hands of insolvency practitioners from the accountancy firm BDO Stoy Hayward.

EMCC, headquartered in Manchester with offices in London and Poland, worked with Sony Ericsson, Nokia, Motorola, Samsung and Symbian.

The business was headed by chief executive Leigh Edwards and three other directors.

It was established 10 years ago and by 2006 employed 85 staff and had a turnover of £4m. It is not known how many people have lost their jobs or why the business has failed.

The company’s phone line has been cut and BDO declined to discuss the business.

EMCC specialised in developing technologies for mobile phone manufacturers. Its most recent accounts for the year to March 31 2008 showed it had net assets of £1.8m.
