Show of strength for Manchester at MIPIM

MORE than 40 private sector organisations have signed up to attend next year’s MIPIM convention as part of the Manchester delegation.

The annual property and investment conference, which takes place in Cannes from March 8 to 11, is a focal point for high-level networking, discussion and show-casing investment projects.

The 45-strong Manchester partnership will be the North West’s largest presence by far.

Liverpool city region has decided not to attend MIPIM 2011, preferring instead to focus on its China links after this year’s investment in the World Expo in Shanghai.

In a sign of greater levels of business confidence, the Manchester partnership will be  bigger in number than this year’s.

Developer Argent, the Co-operative Estates, Manchester Airport Developments, MediaCo and inward investment agency MIDAS are the key sponsors of the Manchester at MIPIM Partnership.

Commenting on the importance of MIPIM to the city, Chris Oglesby, chief executive of property comopany Bruntwood, said: “MIPIM brings together the key decision makers from the industry and provides an unrivalled opportunity to develop the relationships that are crucial to securing future business for the city.”

A highlight of the week will be a Four Cities event organised  by Manchester and featuring speakers from Hamburg, Amsterdam and Barcelona.

Other partners include: Manchester City Council, Arup, BDP, Bluemantle, Bruntwood, Harrow Estates, Harvest Housing, Ian Simpson Architects, Laing O Rourke, MBLA Architects & Urbanists and Stephenson Bell.
