Genr8 submits Stoke business district plans

MANCHESTER-based company Genr8 Developments has submitted an outline planning application for a major new business district in Stoke.

The scheme could cover just over 1m sq ft just south of the main retail hub near the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery.

Permission is being sought for the first 500,000 sq ft of the scheme, with phase one covering around 100,000 sq ft.

The project will be office-led with some elements of retail and public realm. The application follows a public consultation last month and a decision is expected early next year.

Mike Smith, of Genr8, said: “The planning application is a significant step in the delivery of the scheme and outlines a business district which offers a thriving day and night time economy with complementing businesses, shops, bars, restaurants and public open spaces of the highest quality. We believe that it will be the catalyst for further regeneration throughout the city centre.”

Genr8, led by John Early, is also working on a £150m town centre regeneration scheme in Rochdale.
