Adam takes first overseas step with Canada deal

ENERGY management company Adam International has clinched its first major international deal wiht a £2.5m contract in Canada.
The Stockport-based company, which recently won a major contract with BT which will double turnover to £12m, has agreed a two-year distribution deal with Climacare Solutions.
From January Adam will train staff from Climacare on the use of its web-enabled SMART wireless building energy management (BEM) system.
This will enable Climacare to sell and install the devices throughout Canada and the US.
SMART systems can be used for the control and monitoring of essential services including heating, ventilation and air conditioning, electricity, gas and water, security, and metering equipment. The system will ultimately reduce Carbon Dioxide emissions wherever it is installed.
Stephen Dillon, managing director of Adam International, which has 53 staff and is celebrating ist 20th anniversary this year, said: “Our SMART iBEMS system was launched in 2007 and we have been constantly updating the technology to make the installation process as simple as possible.
“Whereas current systems require experienced installation engineers, we are now at a stage where the our wireless product can be 100% correctly fitted by a trained electrician, hence we are happy to allow other companies to buy and install the product.
“The Canadian deal is our first proper step into the international marketplace and we expect to announce further agreements throughout 2011 as we expand our worldwide market presence.”
In 2007, Adam International launched the only wireless building engergy management system, and has so far installed 2,000 systems for clients including Boots, M&S, HMV and Fitness First.
