Kitbag scores Christmas success

Online sportswear retailer retailer Kitbag has reported its busiest ever trading month for December as present buyers flocked to the site to buy replica shirts and other football-related gifts.

The Middleton-based company, which is part of mail order group Findel, reported sales of £10.5m during December, which was 19.3% higher than in the previous year.

The company, which holds the rights for official online merchandising for a raft of top football clubs including Manchester United, Manchester City, Barcelona and Real Madrid,  said that a number of daily records were broken for the business. More than 25,000 products were shipped in a day and more than 6,000 inbound calls and emails were handled.

Managing director Ray Evans said:  “Despite ongoing financial pressures for consumers, many retailers remain cautiously optimistic about the future.  Christmas is one of our most important seasonal trading periods and we are delighted to have achieved a record performance in our 10-year history.”
