Jeans to leave Monarch Airlines

TIM Jeans, the Mancunian boss of low-cost airline Monarch is to leave the firm after a six-year spell.

Jeans, who is from Altrincham, has quit the firm to “pursue other opportunities outside of the group”, according to the Luton-based airline.

Jeans had joined Monarch after a spell running the airline operations of the former Manchester-based tour operator MyTravel. He initially ran its scheduled services division before being promoted to group managing director.

The company said that during Jeans’s tenure, the scheduled airline had developed “significantly” both in terms of the size of fleet and its network of destinations.
Monarch now flies 30 planes carrying six million passengers a year to more than 50 destinations. It operates from four UK airports – Manchester, Birmingham, Luton and Gatwick.

“We are grateful to Tim for his valued contribution to the growth of the Monarch Airlines business over the last six years and we wish him every success for his future,” said Monarch’s group chief executive, Conrad Clifford.

Jeans has been replaced by Kevin George, who is currently managing director of Monarch’s Airline Operations division.
