SKV hits the headlines with Blackpool viral

A PROMOTIONAL film produced by SKV Communications for Blackpool’s tourist board has caught the imagination of national press, by injecting a bit of  French glamour into the seaside town.

The viral film, made by the Manchester agency to be viewed on YouTube for tourism agency VisitBlackpool, is today being covered by BBC news and will be featured on Channel Five news tonight.

Written and produced by SKV Communications director Daniel Kennedy, it alludes to Blackpool’s more continental side, in a bid to attract French tourists as greater numbers are predicted to visit the UK this year on the back of the strong euro.

VisitBlackpool also hopes the film will change outdated perceptions and persuade Brits holidaying at home to choose the seaside town.

The one and a half minute film, called J’aime La Tour, sees Blackpool stands in for Paris as it marries Lancashire and Parisian landmarks and cuisine.

Set in a Parisian-style art deco cafe in Blackpool’s Stanley Park gardens, the film uses flashbacks to build a story around a chic French girl’s fear of leaving the town she has fallen in love with.
