Appointments: silk joins Exchange Chambers; and more…

LEADING silk John Charles Rees QC has joined Exchange Chambers as a door tenant.
Mr Rees, who was called to the Bar in 1972 and appointed Queens Counsel in 1991, specialises in heavy crime and serious fraud.
He has taken on the HMRC in several “carousel fraud” cases and the SFO in serious fraud matters such as the “IKEA” and “IMPERIOUM CONSORTIUM” cases. In addition, he has represented several solicitors charged either with defrauding the legal aid fund or private clients

ROB Gore, an associate solicitor at North West law firm Stephensons Solicitors LLP, has been accepted as a member of the national association Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE).
SFE is an association of lawyers who specialise in legal services for older people and their carers.
The aim of the association is to improve the knowledge and service provided on legal issues including, tax planning, wills, enduring and lasting powers of attorney, long-term social and health care and other retirement issues.
Mr Gore, said: “I’ve been specialising in legal services for the elderly for several years and am looking forward to continuing my development in this area so that I can provide clients with first class legal advice in a field of law which is constantly evolving, as the requirements of the elderly population change.”
