Appointments: Ross to chair EV; new starters at Downing
MANCHESTER-based EV, the venture and growth capital fund manager, has appointed Stephen Ross has been appointed non-executive chairman.

MANCHESTER-based EV, the venture and growth capital fund manager, has appointed Stephen Ross has been appointed non-executive chairman.

Ross, is a former director of 3i and head of its Manchester office, has been a non-executive director of EV since 2004.

He replaces Richard Bamford who will continue as a non-executive director.

EV said it now has more than £100m of funds under management – an increase of 40% in the last twelve months and 350% over the last five years. Its funds include the North West Fund for Venture Capital and the Finance Yorkshire’s Seedcorn Fund.

It manages investments in more than 200 companies across the UK and has 21 employees, operating out of a network of five offices in the North of England and Midlands and has plans to open in Liverpool and Kendal.

Property group Downing has made two new appointments to its in-house management team.

Garry Turner-Bone and Alec Ambridge are joining the company as customer service representatives and will be working at the firm’s The Capital car park in the city centre. The appointments are part of a series of investments in enhancing customer service at the car park.

Downing recently unveiled a new pedestrian entrance to The Capital, on Old Hall Street, which has 1,100 secure parking spaces available for casual parking or those seeking longer-term contracts.

John Clegg, head of property management at Downing, said: “These appointments are part of our wider investment into The Capital as a whole and our commitment to providing the best customer service possible, through our dedicated in-house management team.”
