Christie & Co to sell Cougar Leisure’s bars

PROPERTY agents Christie + Co have been appointed to market six pubs and bars across the North of England which were owned by Chorley-based Cougar Leisure.

The company has been appointed to sell the pubs by Begbies Traynor, whose partners Nigel Atkinson and Mark Fry were appointed as joint administrators to Cougar Leisure on January 10th.

The pubs are a mix of freeholds and leaseholds, which include the Brannigans bars in Manchester city centre and Blackpool, the Spirit and View bars in Manchester’s Gay Village, the Boardwalk in Sheffield and Mood Bar in Newcastle.

Christie said that the sites are available either as a group or individually.
Christie’s had originally been appointed by Cougar Leisure to sell these sites as part of a package of 11 pubs and bars for Cougar in June last year.

It sold others including the Townhouse pub in Whitley Bay, the Berkley in Wigan and sites in Liverpool, Edinburgh and Romford.

Simon Chaplin, Director at Christie + Co, said: “These sites generated significant interest from a range of parties when they initially came onto the market.

“We currently have deals agreed on two of the six and expect renewed interest in the remaining sites in administration. These centrally-located sites will appeal to both national and established local operators alike.”
