Plans in for phase two of Kings Dock Mill

DEVELOPERS have submitted new plans for the second phase of the Kings Dock Mill scheme in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle.

The application is a re-working of plans submitted in April and includes a 219-bedroom hotel, 93 apartments, a 132-bedroom youth hostel, shops and a car park.

It will sit alongside the recently completed Hampton by Hilton hotel, which was part of phase one. But agent Sheila Wright of the Bain Wright partnership said developer, Fountain Trustees and Hurst St Ltd, was confident of securing an operator.

“The response they’ve had from hotel operators is very postive because of the location on the edge of the city centre and close to the arena,” she said.

The plan is to relocate the existing Youth Hostel Association (YHA) building which overlooks Wapping Dock and use the site for the hotel.

“We think it works now in commercial and design terms and we hope the planners agree because we’ve had some very detailed discussions with them,” added Ms Wright.

Jonathan Pritchard of Liverpool architect LAGP is behind the scheme. He was unavailable for comment.
