CTP seeks extension on Lancaster’s Luneside

MANCHESTER developer CTP and its partner Development Securities are seeking to extend their permission for a 15-acre regeneration scheme in Lancaster.
The city council has been working to develop the Luneside East site, adjacent to the River Lune, for the past 10 years but it stalled following the 2008 banking crisis.
Outline planning was previously granted for 350 homes, around 80,000 sq ft of business space, and leisure facilities.
CTP could not be reached to discuss the scheme. The council’s project manager was also unavailable but its planning and regeneration team have recently expressed optimism about the project’s future.
In a statement on the council’s website coun Abbott Bryning, cabinet member with responsibility for regeneration, said: “Even though the project to regenerate this largely vacant and derelict area has been affected by the economic downturn, the council has continued to work with its developer and funders to find a way forward, and believes that there is now a real prospect of getting a first phase of commercial development underway.”
Planning officers have recommended councillors approve the scheme when the planning committee meets on Monday February 7.
