Eight picked up following restaurant raids in Cheshire

EIGHT immigration offenders have been arrested following UK Border Agency raids on two Chinese restaurants in Cheshire.
Acting on information received, officers visited Chinese restaurants in Elton and Neston last Thursday (Feb 3), and questioned staff to ensure they had the right to work in the UK.
At the Jade Chinese takeaway on Ince Lane, Elton, three Chinese men aged between 29 and 33-years-of-age, and a 39-year-old Chinese woman were arrested after it was discovered they were in the country illegally.
The Jade Chinese Takeaway has been issued with a penalty notice which means they could be fined up to £40,000, unless bosses can prove they carried out the correct right-to-work checks on their employees.
In another operation on the same day at the Chinese Chef on Bridge Street in Neston, two Chinese women and two Chinese men aged between 40 and 43-years-of-age were arrested after it was discovered that three were failed asylum seekers and one had illegally entered the UK.
The Chinese Chef has been issued with a penalty notice which means they could be fined up to £20,000, unless bosses can prove they carried out the correct right-to-work checks on their employees.
The UK Border Agency is taking steps to remove all eight from the UK. One of the men from the Jade Chinese Takeaway is being held in detention while the remaining seven have been instructed to report to a UK Border Agency enforcement office while arrangements are made for their removal.
