More job cuts loom at Urban Splash

URBAN Splash, the high profile North West property company is set for a third round of redundancies.

The Manchester regeneration specialist, which like many developers has been hard hit by the recession, is looking to cut construction staff in its Build North division.

Multiple award winner Urban Splash has already cut 100 jobs in the last 10 months in previous cost cutting rounds and now has around 180 staff nationwide.

A statement said: “We are going through a consultation with Build North staff. This is an unfortunate consequence of there being fewer schemes for staff to move on to.”

Two key schemes in the North West, at Chimney Pot Park in Salford and the Chips building in East Manchester are nearing completion, while work at another scheme, Longlands in Stalybridge has been slowed down.

Urban Splash did not disclose how many jobs it is looking to cut, or the timescale.
