Arley secures planning for Duxbury Woods scheme

HOUSEBUILDER Arley Homes is to begin work on its new Duxbury Woods development on an 11.7 acre site in Chorley after gaining planning permission for the scheme.

Chorley Borough Council has just approved the firm’s plan to redevelop the derelict brownfield site over a series of phases – the first of which will see homes coming onto the market by the end of the year.

In total, 135 new homes are planned for the site, alongside a children’s play areas and some green, open spaces.

John Cosgrave, managing director of Arley Homes, said: “We are delighted with the decision, this represents a fantastic opportunity to regenerate a derelict site and bring an attractive and appealing new development to one of the most aspirational areas of Chorley.

“The proposal provides significant investment in a technically complex site, bringing it back into use for the benefit of the whole community.

“Prior to submission, we liaised closely with council planners and the local community to design a scheme that would appeal to families, first time buyers, young professionals and downsizers alike.”

Arley will build a mix of two, three, four and five bedroom houses on the site. It had outline planning for 200 homes, but the firm said that it took the decision to reduce the density of homes in order to create more green areas.
