New licences pave way for growth at energy supplier

BUSINESS Energy Solutions (BES), a Blackpool-based gas and electricity supplier to businesses, has said that it expects to turnover to double over the next two years following a couple of successful applications  to industry regulator Ofgem.

The regulator has approved the firm’s application to supply duel fuels from either of its businesses – BES electric and BES gas.

The firm had already said that it expected turnover to increase by 50% to £40m by the end of 2011 but now expects sales to reach £65m in 2012.

BES was set up seven years ago by Fleetwood Town chairman Andy Pilley and his sister, Michelle Davidson It now employs around 200 people across the Fylde coast.

“The new licenses will allow the company to take another step forward, tying in perfectly with our growth strategy,” said Pilley.

“To set up as an independent supplier that is growing at such a rate in a market dominated by large well-known suppliers has been a challenge but one we are enjoying.”
