Liverpool accountancy firms join forces
LIVERPOOL accountancy firms Bresnan Walsh and Macfarlane + Co have merged to create BWMacfarlane LLP.

LIVERPOOL accountancy firms Bresnan Walsh and Macfarlane + Co have merged to create BWMacfarlane LLP.

The combined practice has nearly 50 staff and will be led by managing partner Peter Taaffe, formerly sole principal of Bresnan Walsh. Macfarlane + Co’s three partners Paul Kurthausen, Rob Macfarlane and Anne Morris are continuing as partners in the new practice

Both firms specialise in acting for high net worth individuals, SMEs and jointly work for 135 charities.

The firm will continue to operate from the legacy offices of the two firms, in Temple Square and the Cunard Building, but will in time move to one site.

Peter Taaffe managing partner of BWMacfarlane LLP said: “The most important benefit of the merger is that nothing will change so far as our client services are concerned, with our particular and shared emphasis on quality of service, approachability and friendliness.

“It’s not often that you find firms that have such a similar tradition and ethos of client centred service.  This merger will provide BWMacfarlane LLP with a very strong base to move forward and to develop and build on our services to our clients.

“As an old friend of the Macfarlane + Co partners after working at the same firm many years ago, I look forward to working with them again.”

David Tournafond and David Maples, partners at North West law firm Brabners Chaffe Street advised Bresnan Walsh on the merger. Debra Grant at JST Lawyers advised Macfarlane + Co.
