Liverpool arena launches EchoTwo

Liverpool’s Echo Arena has unveiled a new layout known as EchoTwo which allows it to shrink the smaller end of the venue from 10,000 to 4,000 seats.
When built in the run-up to its Capital of Culture 2008, the arena was constructed with the capaiblity of retracting its main space towards the larger ‘D’ end of the building, but until recently this had only been used for a handful of events.
Echo Arena General Manager Tim Banfield said: “The new layout will enable us to bring even more top acts to the city. Using the space in this way reduces costs and makes it easier for production companies to load in their equipment and is a direct response to industry feedback.”
“The new space will be intimate, creating a superb atmosphere for acts which don’t want to play to a massive arena audience, and will enable fans to feel like they are really close to the performers.
Already, a number of shows have been booked using the smaller space including The Monkees on May 12 and Bolton comedian Paddy McGuinness on October 8,
“Demand for this kind of space is growing all the time and we would expect to see more shows coming to the city as a result, giving even more choice to concert-goers and meaning they don’t have to leave the city-region to see some of their favourite acts.”
