In brief: Duerr’s supports many hands initiative; City takes three peaks challenge; and more…

NORTH WEST food manufacturer F Duerr & Sons has commissioned a local artist to capture the Central Library building in Manchester using products from their factory.
Artist Lindi Kirwin will create the piece which will feature blackcurrant jam trees, marmalade pavements, mint sauce buildings and a tartare sauce sky, named ‘Manchester Preserved’.
The initiative was in response to the challenge set by the many hands campaign, which tasked fundraisers to find a creative way to raise £1,000 for The New Children’s Hospital Appeal.
Duerr’s has been short listed for its creativity and is set to pitch against other companies in a Dragons’ Den style event judged by a panel, including Theo Paphitis.
The interpretation will then be auctioned on Ebay and hopes to exceed the reserve price of £1,000.
Richard Duerr, sales and marketing director, said: “The work we do alongside local charities is extremely important to us as a family business. This campaign challenged us to come up with an innovative idea and we’ve been blown away by the finished result. We’re confident that our tasty creation will reach the £1,000 price tag.”
