Peel leads the way at World Expo

NORTH west property giant Peel Holdings will carry the torch for the region at next year’s international World Expo in Shanghai.
The Manchester company, owned by billionaire John Whittaker, will be the lead sponsor of the Liverpool Pavilion in a deal worth £100,000.
Peel has ambitious multi-billion pound plans to develop both sides of the Mersey, with Wirral Waters and Liverpool Waters.
The World Expo, an international trade and business forum, begins next May and will run until October 31. It is expected to attract around 70 million visitors.
Lindsey Ashworth, development director at Peel, said: “The range of our group’s activities in ports, airports, renewable energy, media and property development across the North West makes the Liverpool Pavilion at the Expo an excellent fit for our organisation.
“We will use the event as a platform to position investment opportunities and to showcase our expertise and credentials to a global audience.”
Liverpool’s presence at World Expo is being led by regeneration agency Liverpool Vision, the city council, the Liverpool-Shanghai Partnership and the North West Development Agency.
