Demand heats up for Horwich homes
TWO new developments of energy-efficient family homes in Horwich have created high levels of demand among tenants.

TWO new developments of energy-efficient family homes in Horwich have created high levels of demand among tenants.

A small scheme of six affordable family was built as part of a £630,000 project in Singleton Avenue, while a further eight houses are nearing completion at an £810,000 scheme in nearby Wright Street.

The three-bedroom houses have all been designed by Lancashire-based Croft Goode Architects on behalf of St Vincent’s Housing Association. The Singleton Avenue houses were all let soon after they were completed in February, while the Wright Street properties are expected to be pre-let ahead of completion towards the end of March.

Both schemes are part of the Transforming Estates programme, an initiative from Bolton Community Homes to deliver quality, low-carbon housing for local people.
Bolton Community Homes is a partnership between housing associations such as St Vincent’s and Bolton Council.

The houses were built by contractor RBL Construction.

David Croft, a director of Croft Goode Architects, said: “Both schemes are the result of comprehensive consultation with the community and other stakeholders and provide high quality, energy efficient homes in accordance with local need.”

Damien Mason, development manager at St Vincent’s, said: “We are very pleased with these two developments in Horwich, which will make a significant contribution to the Transforming Estates programme.”
