In brief: Liverpool student scoops award; Entries open for football awards

A LIVERPOOL John Moores University student has won the North West regional final of the Association of Women in Property (WiP) National Student Awards 2009.
Katie Myers impressed the judges with her knowledge of the industry to win the £500 first prize, free membership of the Association and the opportunity to participate in the WiP mentoring programme.
Ms Myers will now compete in a national final for a prize of £1,000, which takes place in London on September 22.
Lisa Raynes, North West WiP branch chairman, said: “This is a very tough competition, with the brightest and most impressive female property students being nominated and I would like to thank all of the students who took part. We are delighted for Katie and pleased she will represent the branch in the final.”

ORGANISERS of the Northwest Football Awards are calling for entries from footballers and clubs from across the region.
The awards, now in their third year, celebrate the talent and creativity in the region’s football clubs, both on and off the pitch.
Last year’s winners included Sir Alex Ferguson, JMC IT and the City of Manchester Stadium.
Some of this year’s award categories will be judged by a panel of sporting experts including Alan Myers, Gordon Taylor, Paul Thorogood and Maurice Watkins.
The categories are:
• Community Scheme – Project of the Year
• Community Scheme of the Year
• Best Club Marketing Campaign
• Best Club Sponsorship
• Most Innovative non Match-day use of a Football Ground
• Northwest Suppliers to Football
The high profile awards dinner will take place at the Manchester Hilton on November 17.
