Military orders for Birkenhead factory

THE Merseyside factory of specialist engineering group Intelek has won a new order for aerospace parts.

Intelek’s Birkenhead-based subsidiary CML has agreed a £500,000 follow-on order to supply structural parts for a military air transporter.

Swindon-based Intelek, whose activities include the design and manufacture of electronic systems and components for the satellite and wireless communications markets, also said its Labtech Microwave business had won military orders worth £1m.

These orders involve the supply of circuit boards for a radar manufacturer and a number of broadband amplifiers.

Intelek’s chief executive Ian Brodie, said: “These contract wins in the defence sector for Labtech Microwave and CML are extremely important. They serve to emphasise the growing and significant contribution of the defence sector to both companies which have, until recently, predominantly served commercial programmes.”
