£20m Weaver’s Triangle scheme gets the nod

PLANS by regeneration specialist St Modwen to create a new mixed-use leisure and housing scheme in the Weaver’s Triangle area of Burnley have been given approval.
Outline planning consent has been granted for a £20m scheme countaining 168 new homes, retail units, leisure facilities and office space.
St Modwen said that it expects the £20m scheme to create 300 jobs and a more diverse housing stock. It will will involve the demolition of most of the Tinsley Mill site, although the facade will be retained to complement surrounding buildings.
Michelle Taylor, regional director at St. Modwen, said: “We are delighted to receive planning permission for this site.
“Healey Royd and Finsley Gate mills have attracted anti-social behaviour and become structurally dangerous, meaning the site is in great need of regeneration.
“The approved plans will retain the historical heritage of the area, while still creating much-needed, modern housing for future generations.
“We are very eager to get started on the project. With its superb canal-side location, we’re confident it will create an exciting new focal point at the heart of Weaver’s Triangle”.
The Weavers’ Triangle area covers 54 acres and is designated within the Canalside Conservation Area straddling the Leeds-Liverpool Canal.
