MIDAS on the move again

MANCHESTER’S inward investment agency MIDAS is set to move from its base at Voyager House at Manchester Airport back to Trafford Park just a year after moving out of the area.

The move is believed to be part of a cost-cutting drive affecting various parts of the “Manchester family” following the withdrawal of grants which had previously been provided by the North West Regional Development Agency.

Last month, the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities (AGMA) approved a plan to find £3.2m of savings from MIDAS, Marketing Manchester and Manchester’s Commission for the New Economy.

MIDAS will now share space at Warren Bruce Court in Old Trafford with UK Trade & Investment.

An email sent out by the organisation on Friday said: “By working closely together, MIDAS and UKTI will drive a new bilateral approach for Manchester, harnessing combined International trade and investment opportunities and providing a strengthened platform for Greater Manchester and our ever-growing business community.”
