North West charity creates new jobs
NORTH West charity OnSide, which has secured £20m of government funding to build four youth centres, is creating fundraising and communications roles in the region.
The charity has already secured the backing of North West entrepreneurs and board members Bill Holroyd, Ross Warburton, Chris Oglesby and William Lees-Jones.
The grant award was provided by the Department for Children, Schools and Families. Following the award, the charity is aiming to establish a network of supporters who will contribute a quarter of the new youth zones’ ongoing funding needs, estimated to be £1m a year for each club.
Bill Holroyd, chairman of OnSide, said: “The support of regional businesses is vital for the future of the new youth zones that are being created. Our success in securing £20m of funding shows that we have a strong proposition, which is based on the successful Bolton Lads and Girls Club, which has operated for over 100 years with private and public sector support.
“Through these new roles, we expect to provide first class support to each youth zone bordering Manchester, Oldham, Blackburn and Carlisle by helping them to communicate and engage with the private sector.”
