£30m reasons to be cheeful for Expotel

NORTH West-based business travel, conference management and hotel reservations group Expotel says it has won £30m in new business in the last year.
The private company, which is based in Northenden and has 400 staff, was bought by Phoenix Equity Partners last year.
It is the country’s leading hotel and conference booking agent and books more than one million room nights a year in the UK.
Chief executive Ian Burnley said: ““We are well ahead of our expectations. I am delighted with recent results, particularly as we are only at an early stage in building the new sales team.
“The potential to increase share in this market is greater than we originally thought.”
Mr Bolton said this month had been particularly encouraging in terms of account wins.
“We will continue to build our travel skills – we are now delivering a full range of services in our three largest offices, Stockport, Manchester and Leeds. Our ability to cover hotel, conference, rail and air services is helping us win new business.”
Newly-recruited sales and marketing director James Steventon added: “Our key strength lies with our hotel inventory where we offer a huge range of choice at excellent rates, but we are also able to offer advice to customers across other areas of travel spend.”
