NWDA’s Rugby League goal

THE North West Development Agency has vowed to ensure the region makes the most of the Rugby League World Cup, which will be staged in the UK in 2013.
It is a cause close to NWDA chief executive Steven Broomhead, a keen RL fan and deputy chairman of Warrington Wolves.
Mr Broomhead said: “The agency has played a key role in supporting the bid to host the Rugby League World Cup so this is fantastic news, particularly for the
North West which has enormous potential to benefit given the importance of rugby league in the region and our experience of staging major events.”
The NWDA says the sport generaties £54m per year for the regional economy and supports more than 840 jobs.
Mr Broomhead added: “To ensure we maximise this economic impact and build on the North West’s world-class reputation for staging major sporting events, the agency will be working closely with the Rugby Football League to secure as many of the Rugby League World Cup matches within the region as we can.”
