RBS backs Flintoff physio’s growth plan

LEADING sports physiotherapist David Roberts – whose patients include England cricket star Andrew Flintoff –  is set to expand his North West chain of private clinics.

Mr Roberts has secured a significant funding package from the Royal Bank of Scotland  to open a clinic in Hazel Grove and at least two more in the next 18 months.

The businessman, who is also the head physiotherapist at Lancashire County Cricket Club, already owns clinics in Chadderton, Bolton, Middleton and has an in-house facility at Old Trafford.

The clinics  specialise in treatments for almost any condition including joint pain, back pain, sporting injuries and occupational health problems, employ more than 40 professionals including physiotherapists, podiatrists, conditioning coaches and other therapists.

David Roberts launched his private physiotherapy practice in 1986 with the opening the Middleton clinic.

During the 1990’s he spent six years as the physiotherapist to the England Cricket team and in 2001 became medical services director at Lancashire County Cricket Club, a position he continues to hold.

Phil Collins, managing director of the clinics, said: “The demand for physiotherapy services has increased across all our sites as people become more aware of the benefits of a first class treatment regime.

“As a result we plan to make our services more accessible right across Greater Manchester and the North West.

“In addition to our Physiotherapy services each of our new clinics will include Physio Gyms that help to speed up our patient’s recovery time and provide them with access to health, lifestyle and fitness information specific to their needs.”
RBS in Manchester provided funding to support the expansion plans.

Relationship manager Paul Bradbury, said: ““The team at David Roberts Physiotherapy have established a successful chain of clinics based on the service and expertise they provide to their patients.

“This formula will serve them well at their new locations and we are happy to provide support for their expansion plans.”
