Final call for Barclays’ business competition

BARCLAYS is calling on people with new business ideas to enter its  Take One Small Step competition.

Entrants will be whittled down to nine winners who will receive £50,000 to help them realise their business ideas.

The contest is open to new start-ups or existing businesses looking to expand.

Andrew Gornall, regional business director in the North West, said: “The standard of entries this year is phenomenal. We are seeing well thought-out, creative business ideas coming through that people truly believe in.

“I’d urge anyone with an existing business, or spark of a new idea to enter this competition and win a substantial amount of money to help take their business idea to the next level.”

Last year’s competition was won by Fiona Wood whose business produces organic sun cream for children.

She said: “If you’re contemplating entering this year’s competition, my advice is just go for it. You may think your idea won’t stand out from so many other entries, but if you believe in what you’re doing and let that passion show through in words and your video then anything is possible.”

The deadline for entries is April 27.
