Appointments: Two new partners at Begbies Traynor and more

INSOLVENCY specialist Begbies Traynor has announced two partner promotions in the North West.

John Fairbrother, based in Liverpool, and Lila Thomas, based in Preston, have both been promoted from director to partner.

John, who has been with Begbies Traynor since 2001 after joining as part of the company’s acquisition of Huntington Moore in Liverpool, advises distressed businesses through a range of corporate recovery and restructuring services.

Lila Thomas is one of Begbies Traynor’s longest serving members of staff, having joined the company as a junior in 1993.

Over the past 16 years, she has worked her way up the ranks taking on roles including administrator, senior administrator, assistant manager, manager, senior manager, director and, now, partner.

She said: “I hugely enjoy working at Begbies Traynor and as a partner I am looking forward to playing my part in the ongoing success of our Preston office and the company as a whole.”

ADAM Burke has joined the Manchester office of property agency Colliers CRE as rating director.

He moves from BNP Paribas Real Estate, formally Atis Real, where he was director of rating and lease advisory. Adam joins the national rating team with responsibility for the North West region.

Adam said: “Joining Colliers CRE was an attractive proposition. It has a great reputation and excellent client base including the Co-operative Group, a new client to the rating department. With companies gearing up for the Valuation Office’s review of business rates tax on commercial buildings, I expect to be very busy.”

NORTH West business broker Knightsbridge Business Sales has appointed Chris Bull to head its corporate division.

Former banker Chris, who has become corporate director at the Bolton-based group, will be responsible for driving forward the group’s move into the corporate market.

Chris, 33, began his career at HBOS where he spent 12 years, latterly as an area manager in the North West. He then moved to Royal Bank of Scotland as a business development manager in commercial banking, before joining Clear4Brokers business mortgages as managing director for two years.

MERSEYTRAVEL transport chief, Coun Mark Dowd, has been elected to chair one of the country’s most important transport coalitions.

Councillor Dowd will front the UK Integrated Transport Authorities’ Special Interest Group (ITA SIG), which bring together six English integrated transport authorities.

Coun Dowd, the chairman of Merseytravel, said: “To lead this group is an honour and comes at a time when transport is, quite rightly, at the very forefront of demands for public service investment.”

WILDS Chartered Accountants has injected young blood into appointing two college graduates to its expanding team.

Chris Seddon and Sarah Wilson, both 18, have joined the Radcliffe-based practice after spending two years with the firm as part of its comprehensive work experience programme.
