UKTI puts trade services to tender

UK Trade and Investment has put out to tender the delivery of its international trade services across the North West for the next three years.
The contract, which runs from April 2010, is to deliver UKTI’s core services of helping new and inexperienced exporters in the region grow their international capability, and also at assisting more experienced companies to develop their business in emerging markets.
The chosen organisation will also assist in the continuing implementation of its five year strategy, and the North West Internationalisation Strategy and Action Plan, which it produced jointly with the Northwest Regional Development Agency.
The successful bidder will need to demonstrate the ability to supply a range of international trade services for the region’s businesses against an agreed set of objectives, and will provide support to North West companies engaged in overseas trade and investment.
It will be expected to deliver a range of additional international business services including advice on the mechanics of exporting, payment arrangements and logistics, plus specialist support in language and communication services, and advice on specialist markets and sectors.
In the North West the International Trade Team is currently managed under a single delivery contract by Chamberlink on behalf of North West Chambers of Commerce.
The deadline for expressions of interest is September11. Further details are available on the England page of UKTI’s website www.uktradeinvest.gov.uk, together with a copy of the Pre Qualification Questionnaire.
