Energetix powers up for National Grid deal

ALTERNATIVE energy business Energetix Group has won a contract to supply a power unit to the National Grid in Cheshire.

Its subsidiary Energetix Pnu Power has won an order for one of its compressed air systems to provide back-up power at a National Grid base in Capenhurst.

It will be used as part of a trial programme to assess its performance on relay and circuit breaker switching which the company said requires, “high levels of system integrity”.

Energetix, which is based close to the site near Chester, said the trial will prove the system’s suitability and will offer significant cost savings to National Grid.

Operations director Neil Bright said: “As part of our strategic plan we have identified utility switching as a key target market. This order, from the UK’s largest operator of such equipment, is an important step forward as Energetix Pnu Power commercialises its back-up power technology, which has already achieved orders from the telecoms and defence sectors.”
