Corks Out on expansion drive

A NORTH West independent wines and spirits retailer is will open its fifth store in the region this month after securing a £70,000 funding package.

Corks Out, which was launched in 2003 by businesswoman Ruth Yates in Stockton Heath, Warrington, has just opened its fourth outlet in Heswall, and will welcome customers to its latest site in Alderley Edge in the next fortnight.

The business, which also has shops in Chester and Timperley has a range of over 2,500 wines and spirits available via its stores, online or mail order.

Corks Out employs six full time staff and three part time staff, all of whom were recruited because of their wine knowledge and expertise.

This high level of service has seen the company win 11 awards in the last five years, including the 2007 National Retail Industry award for Off Licence of the Year.

Ruth Yates, managing director of Corks Out, said: “We are confident that customers will appreciate the Corks Out approach.  This is an exciting venture for us and we have plans to open in more North West locations in the near future.”

NatWest in Warrington provided the financial support to Corks Out.

Relationship Manager Liz Lunt commented:  “Ruth has built a successful business in a short space of time thanks to her passion and knowledge of wine.

“She impressed us with her vision for the future of Corks Out and we are happy to support her plans for the new stores.”
