Media mix: Beattie expands; Freshfield moves
BEATTIE Communications’ Manchester office is hiring new staff and expanding its team after a string of new account wins.
In the past few weeks, the Salford Quays-based consultancy has won four new accounts with online accommodation websites iknow-uk.com; cleaning product firm Astonish; vintage jewellery chain Herbert Brown; and 118menu.co.uk – an online takeaway menu and order service.
The company, which employs six in Manchester, is recruiting up to four new staff and is looking for both an account director and senior account manager to lead the new accounts and work on big brands like easyJet, Specsavers and National Trust.
But it is also looking for a couple of graduates or people with around one year’s experience to fill positions at account executive level.
Victoria Walker, Beattie North director, said: “Despite the recession, we have had an exceptional 12 months, winning numerous high profile accounts including easyJet and The National Trust.
“August has been a record breaking month, picking up business from no less than four new companies. We are now looking to grow the Manchester office by taking on experienced B2C and B2B PR professionals to work on these new accounts and longstanding clients including Specsavers.”

PRESTON-based marketing communications company Freshfield is moving to a new home this month.
The move will see 14 Freshfield staff relocating across Winckley Square in the city centre from number 25 to 12, with extra space for the company’s expansion plans.
The move comes five years after directors Simon Turner and Michael Gregory relaunched Freshfield following their management buyout of the company, originally formed in 1998.
Simon Turner, managing director, said: “Our new office is almost double in size and this investment highlights our strategy to be one of the foremost providers of marketing communications services in the North West.”
“We have enjoyed five years of consistent growth by maintaining a strong, client-focussed philosophy. This has led to very healthy client retention and recommendations, and we are proud to be advising some great local, regional and national brands.”
