Booths to open MediaCity store
NORTH West supermarket group Booths is set to open a shop on MediaCityUK.
The family-owned Preston-based chain will take a 23,000 sq ft unit at the landmark development.
It is the first retailer to sign up for the scheme, which will be the home to 2,500 BBC staff and 700 University of Salford students from 2011.
Developer Peel Media has submitted a planning application to extend a unit under the multi-storey car park, which will be the eventual home of Booths.
In a statement Peel Media said: “The agreement with Booths will be finalised once planning permission is granted. It is proposed that the new store will open during 2011.”
The first phase of MediaCityUK includes approximately 80,000sq ft for retail/leisure use. The space will be divided into a range of units across the site, providing shops, cafés, bars and restaurants.
