News in Brief: Made in Manchester; If; BCL and G4S

RECRUITMENT consultancy BCL Legal has reported a 30% jump in the number of in-house legal jobs that it has placed in the first quarter of 2011.

The company, which operates from its offices in Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool, Reading and Bristol, said the increase reflected confidence in key sectors such as manufacturing.

Director Mark Levine said: “There is no doubt that the in-house market has been hit hard over the last couple of years. Businesses had to make tough decisions and most inflicted virtual employment freezes. However, we did start to see a pick up from mid-2010 onwards and this spike is a reflection of that. It’s a welcome result and one that we hope will continue.”
